How to read this, and what it leaves out
Source: Realtor.com Housing Inventory, via FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of
St. Louis). Data through September 2026; updated monthly, last checked 2026-10-12.
What a price cut is
A home that lowered its asking price at least once during the month, shown as a share of
the homes for sale that month. It does not show whether homes sold for less, how big the
cuts were, or what any single home or neighborhood is doing.
Why the same month
The figures are not seasonally adjusted, so part of the summer rise is the market's usual
rhythm. The same month in an earlier year is the fairer comparison, and that is what the
page uses. A single month can't show what caused a change, and this page doesn't try to.
Revisions
Realtor.com recalculates its history when it updates its method, so earlier months can
change slightly between updates.
Geography
Each metro is a metropolitan area as Realtor.com defines it, and covers several counties.
The maps show the Georgia counties of each; the figures cover the whole metro area, which
for Augusta and Columbus includes counties in South Carolina and Alabama. County figures
come from fewer homes for sale than the metro figures, so they move more from month to
month; ten smaller Metro Atlanta counties have no published figures and appear in grey.
